About This Calculation
Understanding BMI in Athletic Populations
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a general population screening metric defined as mass divided by height squared (kg/m²). While highly useful for epidemiological baseline health screening, BMI does not differentiate between skeletal muscle mass and adipose tissue. Strength athletes and muscular individuals will frequently register in the 'Overweight' or 'Obese Class I' tiers despite possessing low body fat percentages and exceptional metabolic health.
